Does Penis Size Matter or Not?
Doubtless, you’ve heard the adage “size matters.” According to one study on penis size, 85% of heterosexual women were satisfied with their partner’s size, while 45% of men polled felt that their penis was too small. So, does size really matter?
Yes, but not in the way you’d think.
Average Penis Size
According to research done by Wylie and Eardley through Saint James Hospital in Leeds, average erect length was 6.1in (15.5cm). The sample size was 2,770 and included men aged 20 – 59 of all races. According to other studies, most penises are 4.7 – 6.7 inches (11.9 – 17cm) long when erect, and roughly 4.7 – 5.9 inches (12 – 15cm) in circumference. It’s been estimated that roughly 90% of penises fall somewhere within this average range.
So, when does size matter? When considering the sizes of things made for penises. After all, masturbation sleeves and condoms are not all created equal.
Masturbation Sleeves
When it comes to masturbation sleeves, there’s a huge variety of shapes, sizes, and materials. From adorable, disposable Tenga Eggs to the unlikely household names, there’s something for every size and texture preference. But, until now, there hasn’t been a luxury, high-tech, Teledildonic masturbator designed specifically to work with the majority of penises.
At KIIROO, we looked long and hard (pun very much intended) at penis data before designing the Onyx+. Onyx+ is designed to accommodate penises not only within the average range but also a bit smaller and a bit larger.
If you speak statistics, the KIIROO Onyx+ is designed to accommodate penises that range from 2 standard deviations below average size to two standard deviations above.
In order to accommodate a wide range of sizes without sacrificing sensation for shorter or thinner penises, Onyx+ relies on 10 expanding and contracting rings that run along the length of the internal sleeve. It’s science, meets wanking.
Penis Size and Condoms
But what about when you’re with your partner in person? Even among average sized condoms, there’s actually a fair amount of difference in size. Finding condoms that fit your anatomy exactly can make a huge difference in the comfort and sensation you feel during sex.
For penises on the large end of average, SKYN condoms are a popular choice. They’re made of polyisoprene, so they’re even safe for people with latex allergies. For those on the smaller side of average, Durex Ultra Thin or any condom labeled “snug” should give you the right wrap. If you’re not sure, check out LuckyBloke – they have an amazing variety of condoms, including sampler packs.
What About Vaginas?
So, there’s always talk about penis size, but what about vaginas? If heterosexual men are concerned with their penis size because they’re afraid of not being able to please a female partner, we need to know a little bit about the vagina, too.
When not sexually aroused, vaginas tend to be 2.7 to 5.8 inches deep. When aroused, the upper ⅔ of the vagina lengthens and lubricate, so the sexual depth may be closer to 4 to 8.5 inches. Because the vagina is so muscular, it can – like other muscles – be “trained” to accept smaller or larger insertions.
“Loose” vaginas are actually a myth, but regularly exercising the kegel and pelvic floor muscles can give you greater control over your vaginal grip. Every heterosexual woman has her own personal preference when it comes to penis size, but most agree that it’s more important to be an attentive lover than a well-endowed one.
