Scary Movies for Your Halloween Long Distance Date
A staple of long distance relationships everywhere is the classic movie date. Pick a film, start it at the same time, and either call, text, or video chat while you enjoy it together. This Halloween, how about something a little spooky? We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite scary movies.
1. Rosemary’s Baby
It would be wrong not to start this list with the 1968 classic. Visually, Rosemary’s Baby is perfect, with shots that go from dreamy to creepy as the tale moves forward.
When a young couple move in to a new house, they are faced with something unexpected. A mysterious pregnancy, strange neighbors and unexplainable incidents. You’ll wonder who’s sane, who’s not; who’s good, and who’s evil. Hail Satan!
2. All the Boys Love Mandy Lane
This 2006 cult hit is gory, suspenseful, and beautifully shot. Fans of the genre might be able to guess what’s going on right away, while those of us who rarely venture into horror are in for a surprise.
Mandy joins her friend for her first countryside bash. For a person experiencing her first party, she might be a little naïve and unaware of things. She and her friends hitch a ride with a stranger to another party. But things get a little out of hand...
3. American Horror Story
AHS is a great option if you prefer a marathon to a movie. Season One, Murder House, follows a family who recently bought the classic haunted house. Season Two, Asylum, centers around a serial killer, past, and present. Season Three, Coven, is witchtastic.
All the way up to the latest season, American Horror Story provides you various options when it comes to plot and setting.
4. Psycho
I mean, duh. Obviously.
Psycho looks into the story of a secretary who steals $40,000 from her employer and runs away with her boyfriend. When exhaustion kicks in they pull up to a motel and come across a strange man. A man who has a strange relationship with his mother and... a great taste for taxidermy.
5. Nosferatu
Nosferatu was the first horror movie ever made, way back in 1922. If you’ve never seen it, you might assume that it’s cheesy, not remotely scary. You would be wrong. It’s a classic for a reason.
The silent movie still gives you the creeps. This classic has all the essentials of a vampire movie.
6. The Shining
If you’ve never read The Shining, you should absolutely make the time to do so. But this is one of the rare instances where the movie is just as good, even if it differs slightly.
The Shining is one of those scary movies that doesn’t fully hit you until a few hours after you finish it, perhaps in the middle of the night…
7. Let The Right One In
Equal parts heart-warming and creepy Let The Right One In is a vampire movie unlike any other. A little boy in Sweden meets a little girl who isn’t what she seems to be.
